Home Design Trends for 2020

At The Interior Designer, we pride ourselves on bringing you some of the latest trends and we are excited to share with you some of our key predictions for the remaining of 2020.

1/ Mindfulness is emerging as a solid trend for 2020 and it focuses on sustainability and wellness. Think low furniture, lots of throw pillows and cushions, indoor plants and very calming, natural colour palettes such as sky blue and of course, white. Bliss.

2/ Natural materials are still very much on trend and it is all about the focus and connection with nature. We can look forward to even more of those that we love – linen, jute, rattan, in their most natural and beautiful form. This pairs beautifully with indoor plants, touches of green, all whilst bring the outdoor, inside.

3/ One of our favourites and a clear favourite for many people is the Hampton’s. It is always a clear winner and with the gorgeous blue and white tones and beachy vibe, it is a stunning and reliable trend. Imagine oversized cushions, gorgeous books, candles, trays and plants featured throughout and throw rugs featured around the home. Hamptons style interiors favour natural materials and fabrics for both homewares and furniture, such as timber, stone, linen, cotton wool and often leather. The Hamptons design combines beautiful blues & white ceramics, chrome accents, textured linens & natural wood furniture with white or whitewashed finishes to create a sophisticated resort-style feel in your home! We love it (and always will)!

4/ Let us present, Boho-Chic, a style that is very much on trend in 2020. It is a focal point of your home being PERSONAL and UNIQUE to you. Think of when you travel how you picked up that gorgeous Buddha statue in Bali and that unique rug you purchased in India at the markets. It is all about bringing the very best of you together in this Boho-Chic  style and ensuring that every piece has a special story behind it.

5/ One of the HOTTEST TRENDS in 2020 is all things glass lighting. From retro mid-century statement lights with stunning chandeliers, it is all about GLASS! We love that you can incorporate it in so many different home aesthetics due to its multi-faceted flexibility. We are loving the frosted glass Scandi style lamps and pieces and the ever-popular Hamptons look glass pendants above a kitchen island, that always looks incredible.

Glass is always a major trend in décor and the combination of smoked glass and matte black metal is one of our recommendations to watch – it is on-trend in 2020. It gives such an elegant, delicate appearance and adds a soft warm glow to any part of your home.

These are 5 of our most favourite trends in 2020 and remind you to choose pieces that reflect your personality and how you want your home to be styled. After all, it is YOUR SPACE.

Our obsession is inspiring you to create indoor spaces that you simply love and make you fall in love with your home all over again, by adding special pieces throughout.
